| Zheng Shaodong, the former assistant Minister (Deputy Minister) for Public Security of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), was sentenced to death for corruption reports Interfax-Ukraine citing the Chinese media. The sentence was passed on Tuesday by the local intermediate court in the city of Xi’an (administrative center of the Chinese Shaanxi Province). During the court proceedings it was established that from 2001 to October 2007, Zheng, first as the deputy head of the Department of Public Security in the southern province of Guangdong and later as the assistant Minister of Public Security of the PRC and Director of the economic crimes investigation bureau, he accepted bribes worth more than 8.26 million Yuan (US$1.2 million). more | |
