Mrs. Orobets complimented the high level and innovation of the format used by the Ministry of Education and Sciences in conducting its summary conference the day before Ukraine celebrated Independence Day. "This is perhaps the first time that regional education officials have had an opportunity to exchange viewpoints with top ministry officials during a video conference call... Money was saved, a greater group of discussants took part in a professional discussion. Other ministries of our government should follow suit and learn to use similar European and democratic approaches to making decisions," noted the Member of Parliament.
According to Mrs. Orobets, the discussion format allowed participants to understand the most pressing challenges facing the development of education in Ukraine. "The video-dialogue participants repeatedly mentioned the key themes that were raised by our working group back in April and are supported by most educators in Ukraine's oblast centers," said the member of parliament. Orobets said that the list of ideas includes, but is not limited to: the normative and technological regulation of test question preparation; the use of graduates' average scores in admissions to higher education institutions; increasing the weight of scores from profile subjects by way of introducing test score coefficients.
