In Ukraine, the 2010 Admission Campaign is Underway
December 17, 2009
In Ukraine, on December 15, 2009, the admission campaign for establishments of higher education (HEIs) got underway. The Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment (UCEQA) began registering individuals who wish to undergo external independent testing (EIT). The results of these EIT tests will provide the basis for HEI admissions.
Today, doors were opened for hopeful freshmen at nearly 900 registration points. Each person who desires to attend an HEI, should come to a registration point, only in certain instances will a proxy be allowed. This year’s registration process for EIT is personal for each hopeful freshman. The only requirement for registration is the individual’s desire to be tested.
As was already announced, in order to register hopeful freshmen will have to provide the following items:
--Passport (if their age as of December 15th is under 16, and the student therefore does not have a passport, an original birth certificate will be accepted
--A document proving the student completed high school (a diploma) or a copy of it. For those who will complete their education in 2010, a letter from their high school (an example of which can be found on the UCEQA website) will be required.
--Two 3x4 cm. photographs of the student
--Two plastic files for A4 format documents.
Once registration is complete, each hopeful freshman will obtain a blank external testing certificate with their photograph. The student will have to produce this document in order to be tested and during the admission process to HEIs. After EIT is completed, the student will be able to independently print out an addendum to the certificate from his personal web page. This addendum will list the grades received in the tested subjects. This addendum, together with the original certificate will need to be submitted to the admission commission of the HEI to which the student is applying.
This year hopeful freshmen will be able to change the personal information associated with their registration an unlimited number of times, but only during the allocated registration period. That is, changes can only be made until March 31, 2010. On March 31st, at 6pm registration for EIT 2010 will be closed.
“The registration period spans three and a half months, but we strongly suggest that students not wait until the last minute to register,” says Ihor Likarchuk, Director of the UCEQA.
We would like to remind you that in 2009 461,981 individuals registered for EIT and 433,999 individuals underwent the testing.
