All 862 establishments of higher education (HEIs) are to publicize the ranking list of those individuals being offered admission. The Minister of Education and Sciences, Dmytro Tabachnyk made this statement during a tele-conference with the leaders of the Regional Departments of Educations and HEI Chancellors, reports a UKRINFORM correspondent. Mr. Tabachnyk emphasized that offering admission to applicants with a basic or full secondary education for traditional study on full scholarships to fill government quotas should occur by August 15th; those being offered tuition paying spots will be announced after the students who were offered scholarships commit to an HEI but no later than August 25th. According to the Minister, over 1.5 thousand individuals used the hotline, nearly 200 individuals were seen in person; additionally over 37 million individuals from 87 countries accessed the informational search engine Konkurs. “This was a difficult time, and we should acknowledge the work done by the admission commissions. Without regard to the terrible heat, they did everything possible to keep lines short, especially during the first days that applications were accepted,” states the Minister. He three HEIs who accepted the largest number of applications: The National Aviation University (nearly 27 thousand), The Ivan Franko L’viv National University (24,000), and the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University (22,500). Mr. Tabachnyk is pleased to see an increase in those applying to natural and technical specialties this year.
