Ukrainian Delegation at the US State Department

On December 8, 2011 a delegation led by Yevhen Sulima, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sports worked at the United States State Department. The delegation was comprised of representatives from the Ministry, the Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the National Mining University, the Oles’ Honchar National University of Dnipropetrovs’k, the National Technical University Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute, the Donetsk National Technical University, the Odesa National Polytechnic University and the V. N. Karazin National University of Kharkiv.
The delegation met with leaders and staff members from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, and the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
At these meetings they discussed the following issues: ensuring the quality higher education, accrediting establishments of higher education, academic mobility and international exchange for undergraduate and post-graduate students, how American universities can help integrate Ukrainian establishments into the international educational space, the mutual recognition of diplomas and academic degrees, how to strengthen the dialogue in the area of science and new technologies, and conducting joint scientific research in such areas as nano and biotechnology, biochemistry, chemistry, energetic, technical-engineering spheres, creating joint scientific data bases, etc.
They reached a number of agreements on cooperation in these areas.
