EIT to be Regulated by Law

Maksym Luts’kyy, Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliamentary Committee for Education and Science announced that external independent testing (EIT) will be regulated by the On Higher Education law to prevent individuals from making changes to the testing process.  read more

OPORA: The Ministry Extended the Selection Period for State Scholarships to August 15, 2012

Considering the fact that state quotas for full government scholarships were not met at a number of establishments of higher education (HEI), the relevant ministry allowed HEIs to continue accepting original documents for enrollment through August 15, 2012 (according to letter #1/9—506 dated August 10, 2012 by the Ministry).  read more

Record Breaking Year for HEI Applications since Ukraine’s Independence

Dmytro Tabachnyk, Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sports made this announcement during a press-conference that released initial statistics compiled on the 2012 admission campaign. The number of applications submitted set a new record for independent Ukraine. From July 2-31st, Admission Commissions at establishments of higher education (HEIs) received 1,901,503 applications from those hoping to become HEI freshmen this fall.  read more

The Minister Reminds HEI Chancellors that they are Personally Responsible for how the Ranking Lists are Compiled

According to the 2012 Rules of Admission to Establishments of Higher Education in Ukraine applications to level III-IV accredited establishments of higher education (HEIs) will not be accepted after July 31st. For that reason Dmytro Tabachnyk, Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sports issued letter #1/9-538 dated July 30, 2012 to HEI Chancellors.  read more

Over 1.5 Million Applications Submitted to HEIs

As of 8 am on July 23rd the total number of applications submitted to establishments of higher education (HEIs) in Ukraine was 1,548,451. Of this number 209,500 were filed electronically. “Over the weekend over 40,000 applications were submitted and every third (13,071) was submitted electronically. Overall the electronic system has been used by 56,973 applicants. The total number of individuals who have entered the admission campaign this year has reached 518,437,” stated Mykola Fomenko, Associate Director of the MoESYS’s Department of Higher Education.  read more

Nearly 1.65 Million Applications Submitted to HEIs in 20 Days

In the 20 days that the admission campaign has been underway 1,647,546 applications have been submitted to level I-IV accredited establishments of higher education (HEIs). “As of 8 am on July 25th, 544,788 individuals have entered the admission campaign. 59,620 individuals used the electronic application system to submit 228,923 applications,” announced Mykola Fomenko, Associate Director of the MoESYS’s Department of Higher Education.  read more

More than three times the Number of Appeals Filed to Contest EIT Scores

The Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment (UCEQA) has received 9783 appeals. The appeals were filed by individuals who disagree with how their answer sheets were scored during external independent testing (EIT). Iryna Zaytseva, Director of UCEQA made this announcement on July 10th in Kyiv. This is a threefold increase from 2011.  read more

Graduates Submitted nearly 400,000 applications to HEIs
